Liven up your speech therapy sessions with these colorful board games, each with dice and game tokens. Search the backgrounds for lots of little surprises, too—each one containing the target sound, of course. Each game targets all word positions, and the suggestions for use offer a number of variations. Use for word, phrase, and sentence-level practice.

1.Join the “P” and “B” Parade
Lots of easy-to-identify vocabulary is geared to younger children: baby, balloon, boots, pumpkin, pizza, soap . . . A joyful parade of animals in the background elicits even more words: rabbit, pig, penguin, bee, ladybug, spider,
beaver. Oh, and don’t forget the hippo and the zebra.
2.It’s Time for “T” and “D”
It’s from dawn till dusk as you travel this path. Layers on layers of options for stimuli: The
vegetables square pictures a radish, carrot, potato, tomato, and beet, for example. The picnic in the background shows a blanket, basket, sandwich, potato chips, watermelon, the inevitable ants, and other animal friends come to enjoy the bounty.
3.Be Cool with “K” and “G”
There’s a challenge for every level—whether your students name the car a car or a Volkswagen Bug. Humorous illustrations in the background invite spontaneous comments loaded with sounds. Who can resist talking about a goldfish in glasses or a golfing kangaroo?
4.Fun with “F” and “V”
Our newest offering is a fantasyland of F and V words. On the edge of the waves, elves play a round of golf before going to the café. The finely rendered art on this game board will appeal even to your older students.
5.Fishing for “SH”
It’s down to the ocean to cast your line for SH words. The Martians in the background are truly ridiculous—having crashed their spaceship, they’re busy brushing their teeth and shining a flashlight at a sheepdog.
6.Let’s Cheer for “CH”
Whether you play the game or just tour CH Park, there’s no avoiding the words from chimps playing chess to chipmunks eating rice with chopsticks.
7.Take the “TH” Path
Thread your way through the path or think of things in the background—

TH is everywhere. Leather boots and a weathervane, north and south, three bears and a panther, and the list
goes on.
8.Are You Ready for “R”?
Make your way along the path of words but be careful not to rouse the snoring dinosaur or disturb the rhino browsing the Web on the computer!
9.Let’s Race for “S”
There’s an S word in every square of the path. And, of course, the
background is bursting with s as well—an octopus making pizza, a scary roller coaster and more—make appearances on this game board bursting with silly antics.
10.Rolling along with “L”
Let’s not be late for the Locomotive Lumbering past a Lobster Lunching on lettuce, a rattlesnake holding a yellow balloon with its tail, a lounging lion and lots of laughs.
