The LAS is based on the theoretical construct of suicide proneness. It assesses life-enhancing behaviours and life-threatening behaviours to provide a complete evaluation that is useful in any situation where an individual’s attitudes toward their own life may be contributing to greater problems. The short version (LAS:S) includes the same content categories as the long version. The LAS normative sample consisted of 1,229 high school and college undergraduate students from the Midwestern United States. The LAS:S normative sample consisted of 2,071 students.
