Do your students get confused when following oral directions? Do they guess at what they are supposed to do rather than ask for clarification? Are they so unsure of what to do that they merely remain silent? Responding to Oral Directions is an effective and flexible program that teaches your students to identify unclear directions and to learn how to ask for clarification appropriately. You will find that this program provides an enjoyable way for your students to acquire the critical skills they need in order to listen and learn more effectively.

Responding to Oral Directions is intended for both special and regular education students and/or adults functioning at the first- through sixth-grade levels. You get IEP goals for each lesson and instructions to read to your students before they begin the listening tasks. The listening tasks throughout the nine units have been designed and ordered in such a way as to maintain your students’ attention and to expose them to a variety of linguistic elements. No tasks require the students to read beyond the letter-recognition level.
