The Swanson Cognitive Processing Test (SCPT) is an individually administered battery of 11 subtests that measures different aspects of intellectual abilities and information processing potential.

.

This standardized test battery can be administered in an abbreviated form (five subtests) or in a complete form under traditional, or interactive, testing conditions. The battery, designed for use with persons from ages 5 to adulthood, draws from the work on information processing theory and dynamic assessment.

.

The test was individually administered to 1,611 children and adults (ages 4-5 to 78-6) in 10 U.S. states and 2 Canadian provinces. The sample closely matches the 1990 U.S. Census figures for ethnicity, gender, region, and community size. The total coefficient alpha score (sum of scores across subtests for initial gain and maintenance) for the SCPT is highly reliable (r = .989). The results on composite and component scores indicate that the majority of scores range from .82 to .95, with 64% (16 of 25) of the reliabilities at .90 or greater. High construct and criterion-related validity coefficients are reported.
