The TONI-3, a major revision of the popular TONI-2, is a norm-referenced, language-free measure of intelligence, aptitude, abstract reasoning, and problem solving. The test is completely nonverbal and largely motor-free, requiring only a point, a nod, or a symbolic gesture to indicate response choices; the examiner pantomimes the instructions. This unique language-free format makes the TONI-3 well suited for evaluating individuals with aphasia, dyslexia, language disabilities, learning disabilities, speech problems, specific academic deficits, and similar conditions that may be the result of mental retardation, deafness, developmental disabilities, autism, cerebral palsy, stroke, head injury, or other neurological impairment (ages 6.0-85.11 years). The test format also accommodates the needs of individuals who do not read or write well due to disability or lack of exposure. The abstract-figural content of the test ensures that each item presents a novel problem. The TONI-3 items contain no words, numbers, or familiar pictures or symbols. The drawings in the TONI-3 Picture Book have been substantially improved in this revision. Because the TONI-3 has two equivalent forms, it is ideal for situations where both pre- and post-measures are desirable. Each 50 item form contains problem-solving tasks that progressively increase in complexity and difficulty. Raw scores are converted to percentile ranks and to deviations quotients with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15 points. The test was normed on a large sample of over 3,000 respondents. The Manual details research conducted over 20 years that documents the technical quality of the norms, reliability, and validity of the TONI-3 and its earlier versions. Complete Set; . |
