TLDC: Teaching Language-Deficient Children
Theory and Application of the Association Method for Multisensory Teaching
Teachers, clinicians, parents, and other professionals working closely with children with aphasia, apraxia, dyslexia, head injuries, hearing impairment, or other learning disabilities will find this book very useful. Teaching Language-Deficient Children presents theories, purposes, principles, and applied techniques of the Association Method for teaching language and speech, with emphasis on the phonetic, systematic, and cumulative multisensory approach. The method’s guidelines on curriculum are structured and specific explanations help reinforce activities. Instructions are incremental, progressing as the child advances. They start out learning individual sounds to syllables, words of gradually increasing length, basic sentences and questions, and eventually move on to more advanced sentence structures, and corresponding questions.
Materials include teacher-made cards that have been adapted for phonetic, multisensory instruction and implemented for decades by professionals in teaching the Association Method.
