The Wide Range Interest and Occupation Test –Second Edition is a revision of the popular WRIOT. The WRIOT2 consists of 238 full-color pictures. Individuals decide whether they like, dislike, or are undecided about each job depicted. The WRIOT2 does not require reading or language understanding. The picture presentation reduces the confusion of mental images and multiple meanings that words evoke.
The results graphically show an individual’s strength in each of the 17 Occupational, 16 Interest, and 6 Holland Type Scales. The report can be provided to the client to assist in their career choice. The WRIOT2 can be computer administered using the WRIOT2 Administration CD or manually administered using the Picture Book. Both administration versions are provided in the WRIOT2 Complete Kit. The WRIOT2 Computer Administration CD contains all the images in the picture book as well as 25 scorings. Additional Scoring CDs can be purchased.
NORMS
The WRIOT2 was standardized on 1,286 individuals. Norms are provided for ages 9 through 80 and are based on a national stratified sample controlled for Age, Gender, Ethnicity, Geographic Region, and Education.
ADMINISTRATION AND SCORING
The Picture Book and the Computer Administered version both contain 238 drawings from which individuals determine whether they like, dislike, or are undecided about the work situation pictured. Choices are either selected on the computer or recorded by the test taker on a Response Sheet. A report is generated to graphically portray each individual’s results. If manually administered, the responses can be keyed into the computer program to analyze the results.
UNIVERSAL USAGE
Occupational range is from unskilled labor to the highest levels of technical, managerial, and professional training. Because reading ability is not required, the WRIOT2 can be used with the educationally and culturally disadvantaged, the learning disabled, the mentally retarded, and the deaf. The picture titles can be read to the blind.
